Fun Starts In

The Maddie Zolfo Half Marathon!

Join us for a half marathon on Sunday morning

The St. Pete Beach Classic added the half marathon in 2012, and it has quickly become the most popular event. The course is run entirely on paved roads and treats runners to a gorgeous sunrise and views of our beaches.

26.2 Miles for a Full Marathon!
Here in St. Pete Beach, FL, we run this distance spread
out over an entire weekend, with three post-race parties, a beach bonfire,
and a good night’s rest in the mix.
We call this event the Classic Marathon Challenge!!

Burg to Beach to Bayshore Challenge
This is the second race in the Burg to Beach to Bayshore Challenge, an event we have created in partnership with the St Pete Run Fest in November and the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic in February.

COURSE DETAILS

The Classic Half Marathon started in 2012 and was renamed as the Maddie Zolfo Half Marathon in 2017.

Maddie Zolfo, of neighboring Treasure Island, started running late in life, at 31 years old. By the time she was 45 years old, she had achieved status as an elite, long distance Masters runner. Among her many achievements, Maddie won the Sarasota Marathon, won the New York City Half Marathon, took 3rd place, age group, at the Boston Marathon, and took first place female, while establishing Master’s course records, at the Tallahassee 50 Miler and the Croom 50K. Maddie broke three hours at both the Gasparilla and Kiawah Marathons.

Maddie passed away in July of 2016, at the age of 51 years old, and this race honors her passion and commitment to running, to her friends and to life.

This race offers participants of the St. Pete Beach Classic weekend a certified course that is truly a foot-tour of our island city!

More about the Sirata

The Sirata is the focal point for the Classic’s activities: all the pre- and post-race parties, race-day registration and packet pick up, the beach party and bonfire – even the start and finish lines – are located at the resort!!

The Sirata is truly the home of the Classic.

The City of St. Pete Beach is the essence of a small, beach community. Situated on a barrier island that forms Boca Ciega Bay with the mainland of St. Petersburg, its approximately 10,000 residents are understandably proud of their community! They have reason to be, as St. Pete Beach was designated the Sunset Capital of Florida, and named the 3 rd best family beach destination in the country by Parents Magazine!

A small island measuring about 5 miles long and less than a half-mile wide (at points much less!) residents are an active bunch, participating in civic groups and other organizations aimed at making life here full of fun activities and services that make it truly a tropical paradise! The St. Pete Beach Classic is the biggest event of the year for the City and involves virtually all of the local organizations and many of our businesses to make it happen – all to the benefit of various charities.
