The City of St. Pete Beach is the essence of a small, beach community. Situated on a barrier island that forms Boca Ciega Bay with the mainland of St. Petersburg, its approximately 10,000 residents are understandably proud of their community!  They have reason to be, as St. Pete Beach was designated the Sunset Capital of Florida, and named the 3^rd best family beach destination in the country by Parents Magazine!

A small island measuring about 5 miles long and less than a half-mile wide (at points much less!) residents are an active bunch, participating in civic groups and other organizations aimed at making life here full of fun activities and services that make it truly a tropical paradise! The Walgreens St. Pete Beach Classic is the biggest event of the year for the City and involves virtually all of the local organizations and many of our businesses to make it happen - all to the benefit of various charities.

Some of the local organizations lending a hand are:

• Vina del Mar Civic Association
• Pass-A-Grille Civic Association
• Captiva Cay Homeowner's Association
• Friends of St. Pete Beach

All are involved to do their part to ensure that the Classic is a first-class running event that provides top notch amenities to all its participants and their families as well as fun, interesting and informative free activities that are open to all residents and visitors.

With the 2012 addition of the Half-Marathon to the race schedule, the Classic not only involves the whole community, it offers the runners the opportunity to take a running tour of virtually all the neighborhoods that make up our City - seeing it by foot, up close and personal - it's our way of showing off the unique character of our island, our city, our paradise community!!
